Our Story
Co-founded in 2023 in New York by Talia Williams, physical therapist, and Kimmy Kellum, founder of East River Pilates, SPRING. Movement was born out of a deep curiosity for movement, education, and people.
Originally established as East River Pilates' Comprehensive Teacher Training Program in 2019, our team has had the pleasure of nurturing thousands of students' education journeys and building a thriving and supportive community, in Brooklyn, and beyond.
Today, SPRING. Movement is the proud and official Teacher Training Program for East River Pilates, NYC. Featuring physical therapist-approved Certifications, Courses, and Coaching, our robust programs are designed to equip aspiring and established Pilates professionals with everything they need to thrive in their careers.

Talia Williams is a dynamic leader and co-founder of SPRING. Movement, where she passionately drives the mission to empower individuals and communities through innovative movement practices. With a Bachelor of Physiotherapy, a Comprehensive Pilates Certification, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Business Administration, Talia blends her clinical expertise with her entrepreneurial spirit to create impactful education curriculums.
With over a decade of experience in healthcare, wellness and community engagement across several continents, Talia's background equips her to develop programs that foster resilience, inclusivity, and connection. Her commitment to holistic health shines through in her approach, ensuring that each initiative resonates deeply with participants from all walks of life.
Talia's commitment to social impact is reflected in her work with diverse populations, championing inclusivity and accessibility in all SPRING. Movement initiatives. Known for her empathetic leadership style, she inspires teams to collaborate and innovate, making a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.
Under her guidance, SPRING. Movement has expanded its reach, creating transformative experiences that promote well-being and community cohesion. Talia’s vision continues to inspire a growing movement dedicated to cultivating a healthier, more connected world.

Kimmy is the proud founder of East River Pilates and SPRING. Movement. With a thriving community across 5 Pilates studio locations and a virtual workout platform, her team are forever on a mission to share the life changing benefits of Pilates to all people in Brooklyn, and beyond. Nominated as the 6th most popular fitness instructor in NYC by Observer Magazine, Kimmy’s been featured in Vogue, Well+Good, NY Magazine, BossBabe, Romper, Refinery 29, Insider, Brides, and WMag, where East River Pilates was awarded first place in Summer's Best Workouts.

Tommy Bo is the friendly and dedicated Program Administrator of SPRING. Movement, guiding students through their journey to becoming skilled and confident Pilates teachers. As a SPRING. Graduate himself and a working Pilates teacher, Tommy Bo brings a unique blend of practical knowledge and a genuine passion for supporting others in their educational paths.
Known for his approachable demeanor and keen attention to detail, Tommy Bo ensures every student feels encouraged, valued, and well-prepared to succeed. From answering questions to celebrating milestones, he’s here to make the certification process as smooth and rewarding as possible.
Tommy Bo believes that education is about more than just learning skills—it’s about building connections and confidence. He’s thrilled to play a part in shaping a welcoming community where future instructors can thrive.

Abby is a certified Pilates teacher with a BFA in Ballet Pedagogy and over two and a half decades of movement teaching experience. She began Classical Ballet training at age 9 which led her to the dance program at The Hartt School at The University of Hartford. She received her Pilates education from The Equinox Institute and The Lab, has a 200 hour YTT, and has completed the Beginning Year studies at the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute.
Abby has always had a fascination with how the mind and body are intertwined and how emotions are bound in the body. She has also attended workshops for Pre & Postnatal Pilates, Anatomy & Biomechanics, and Oov and CoreAlign.

Melody (she/her) is certified Pilates teacher with an extensive movement and creative arts background. At a young age she was fascinated with mindful movement and has continued to explore a variety of modalities throughout her life so far. She has a BFA in Theater and a Minor in Dance from the University of Florida, and began her teaching career as an artist in residence in Central California. She received her Pilates training from the Equinox Institute, Movement Salon, Core Pilates (Pre/Postnatal), and Bodytonic.
Melody is passionate about sharing her experience and knowledge with aspiring practitioners as they move forward in their Pilates journey.

Nicole (she/her) is a certified Pilates teacher and sought-after choreographer. She has more than 10 years of teaching experience in both the Pilates and Dance industry. Originally from Switzerland, she first was introduced to fitness through her mother who has been running her own Pilates studio for over 17 years. She moved to New York in 2008 to study at The Alvin Ailey School. She received her Pilates training from Rolates Pilates, Le Pilates Studio, SPRING. Movement (Prenatal and Postnatal), and Pilates Method Alliance (HIIT in the Pilates Environment).
Nicole firmly believes in the transformative power of movement, the ability to bring about profound changes in people's lives. She looks forward to sharing her knowledge and experience to aspiring teachers through SPRING. Movement’s Teacher Training Program.

Hailing from Australia, Jack (he/him) found his way into fitness through his background in dance. He was first introduced to Pilates at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne where he received his BFA in Music Theater. Jack immediately fell in love with the form and immersed himself in Dynamic Reformer, Mat Pilates, as well as hit HIIT classes. His curiosity pushed him to pursue further training with Unite Health where Jack studied all Pilates Apparatus. He draws on his dance background to challenge his client's flexibility and coordination while using the key principles of pilates to improve posture, form, strength and lifestyle.
Jack is excited to share his teaching experience with SPRING. students and foster their love of movement.

Brian has been a Pilates teacher and mentor for over seven years. Upon completing his 600hr Comprehensive Certification from Balanced Pilates NYC, he soon found a home at East River Pilates in Williamsburg. There, he was able to hone his signature style of dynamic, joyful movement with a strong technical background.
He has created and led workshops for continuing education, mentored fellow teachers, and created a devoted and diverse community- in NYC, through guest teaching in Seattle and Berlin, and globally through his regular contributions to Well + Good.
He has completed two additional courses in Prenatal and Postnatal Pilates through East River Pilates under the direction of Physiotherapists Chloe de Winter and Talia Williams and has experience in Pilates and movement for scoliosis, low back pain, and postural restoration.

Ashley (she/her) is a certified Pilates teacher and dance artist with extensive experience in teaching movement & wellness practices. As an educator, she loves blending Classical and Contemporary practices that strive to promote functional strength & mobility, equipping students with the somatic tools to unlock and tune the body. Guided by the mantra, “The work is never over,” she is always circling around the instructor/student role to continue improving upon her teaching practices - In the pursuit to reframe clear, joyful, and accessible education.
Ashley earned her BFA in Dance through the University of the Arts, and holds a 500-hour Comprehensive Pilates Certification through Balanced Pilates NYC.

Alec is a Pilates teacher and Strength Coach with 12 years of teaching experience. He has a particular interest in athletic Pilates and sports-injury rehab. His own journey started in grad school at Case Western Reserve University, as Pilates helped him to overcome multiple knee injuries and an imbalanced gait. Mindful core training tied together his various injury rehabs into a fully-integrated body. Since, he has been dedicated to helping clients find their own physical agency through thoughtful connection to their body.
Holding an MFA in acting, he has taught multiple workshops on voice, concision cueing, and physical presentation for both Pilates Instructors and Trainees. His style of teaching is ultra-accessible, functional, and scalable, believing that Pilates can empower every body.

Lydia (she/her) is a certified Pilates, Yoga, and Barre teacher. She is also the director of ClubShamoun (C-LS), an experimental art company in NYC. She views movement as medicine and strives to help clients feel fully embodied and positively connected to their bodies. Lydia draws on her diverse movement background to shape her teaching methodology for clients and is equally passionate about creating a safe and exploratory learning environment as an educator.
Lydia holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance and a Mat Pilates Certification from Cornish College of the Arts. She has a Comprehensive Pilates Certification from Balanced Pilates NYC, a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training from Loom Yoga, a Barre Teacher Certification through Barre Above, and an additional Prenatal and Postnatal Certification from SPRING. Movement. She previously created and conducted the NASM/ACE-certified Barre Teacher Training for The Loom. Lydia is proud to educate aspiring teachers in Loom's Yoga Teacher Training and SPRING Movement's Teacher Training Program.

Sydney Duncheon is an expert Pilates teacher and practitioner with more than 8 years of teaching experience in diverse major markets. She holds certifications in Mat, Reformer, Jumpboard, Cadillac, Barrel, Chair, Pre/Post Natal, and TRX instruction. Sydney believes in the power (and necessity) of a well-rounded education for efficient and successful teachers, and she looks forward to working and learning with the next generation of Pilates teachers!

Lauren is a comprehensively-certified Pilates teacher and dancer with extensive training and embodied knowledge gathered through years of both practices. She was led to Pilates while completing her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography at the University of California Irvine. Under the instruction of second-generation master teacher, Diane Diefenderfer, Lauren completed her 450-hour certification through Studio du Corps in Costa Mesa, California.
Informed heavily by her dance practice, Lauren’s teaching emphasizes the integration of mind-body connectivity, proprioceptive practice, and breathing dynamics in the pursuit of aiding strength, stability, and mobility work. In every class she teaches, her goal is that her clients feel more grounded in the sensations of their body and hopes that discovery is sustained in life outside of the studio. Lauren believes that movement is a healing practice in body and spirit, and she finds joy in playing a small part of her students' journeys. She is so excited to share her experience and amplify her passion for teaching with SPRING.
